I purchased a Burt’s Bees gift package for myself a while back to give a try to a few of their products - samples are a great way to try new things. In the middle of the winter my hands dry up on me and no matter what or how much lotion I use I can’t seem to stop it.

That is until I tried Burt’s Hand Salve! I’ve never been a big fan of tin containers of balm or lotion because of the mess they make but not any more. This fantastic salve helped heal my dried and chapped hands. In the New England winter it’s hard to keep your hands in tip top shape but this salve is great - I leave it on my desk at work; put it on once in the morning and once before I leave and I’m usually good to go for the day. Yes, even in my dry forced hot air heated house.

I stopped at my local Walgreens today to pick up a new hair clip since the teeth on my old one finally gave out.

I was grabbing a two pack of Scrunci hair clips and spotted for the same price a two pack of 100% recycled Scrunci eco clips. The recycled hair clips have the same quality and hold that we come to expect from Scrunci and are a product I would highly recommend.

Scrunci has some other great eco friendly and environmentally conscious products out now as well including bamboo hair elastics and much more! I love their slogan on the eco products too, “Use your head, save the planet” cute!

All of the Scrunci eco and bamboo products are very comparable in price to the non eco-conscious products they produce; so consider switching the next time you need to pick up new hair products.  We as consumers need to put our money where our mouths are and buy eco when we spout eco!

I had to run some errands the other day and while I wandered around CVS I noticed I didn’t have my usual lip balm in my pocket so it was a great day to try out something new.

I grabbed the Vickery & Clarke Intensive Lip Treatment (95.75% natural) and the Intensive Moisture Lip Balm (94% natural).

There’s a great Dirty Jobs episode on the Discovery Channel where Mike Rowe goes to Terressentials in Maryland and makes and gets his hair washed in organic shampoo. I must divulge that I love Mike Rowe (my boyfriend is often jealous) so I hopped on their website and online store, Terressentials.com, to see what they had to offer!

The first order I made included the Fragrance-Free Facial Care Sampler. I’ve often had problems with scented products so I figure since my face doesn’t need to smell good: fragrance free would be my best route.

The samples are small but they go a long way, I used my sample package for a bit over 2 weeks, anywhere between 1 and 3 times a day. The bottles are small but the recommended amounts to use are very small as well - good things really do come in small packages.

I stopped at Walgreens earlier this week to pick up a prescription and found all the holiday gift packs on sale. Amongst them a green product that caught my eye.

I snagged a 5 brush set of EcoTools makeup brushes and bamboo holder for $5 usd in a post-holiday gift set sale. I’ve been using the brushes ever since and I love them.

I can’t fault a company for not going 100% with their products or product lines. As far as I’m concerned it’s always better to start getting green then wait till it’s convenient to go 100% green. Do what you can - to go as green as you can - now!

Every time I hit the stores I poke around to see if I can find any new organic, green or natural products I didn’t know existed. The other day I was at the grocery store and I saw some body butters with packaging that caught my eye.

Their clever packaging with hand drawn retro pinups girls give an old Americana feel to a fresh 72% organic product. Their packaging has been recognized by the NACDS in Boston in ‘06 and ‘07 for best packaging and their products can also be purchased at some retail locations without the unnecessary cardboard packaging.

One of my favorite day to day green health and beauty products is by far the Yes to Carrots Lip Butters.
