Practical Tips for an Eco-Friendly Wedding

Posted on November 8, 2012March 2, 2015 By Kristin No Comments on Practical Tips for an Eco-Friendly Wedding

Tying the knot the Eco-friendly way can be both fun and beneficial not only to the environment, but to your budget as well. A wedding is a grand celebration and usually requires a little bit of splurging. However, whether you believe it or not, it’s still possible to have an elegant wedding celebration while going green at the same time. It even makes for a more unique feel! So, in case you’re planning to get married the Eco-friendly way, here are some practical tips that will surely be able to help you:

##Think Local##

To think local means to consider buying wedding accessories from local suppliers. Instead of driving to the next city to look for a wedding flower supplier, why not find one who sells flowers locally? This way, you won’t have to spend too much on gas. The same goes when you’re looking for a bridal outfit or for something the entire entourage could wear. And speaking of outfit, choosing eco-friendly outfits for you and the entourage is an excellent way to reduce your carbon footprint. Today, there are a good number of designers who make wedding outfits made of organic or recyclable materials.

##Use Eco-Friendly Materials##

Whether it’s for your invites or for the decors during the ceremony, try to go for Eco friendly materials. If you know how and where to look, you will definitely find a local supplier where you can get recycled items. There might even be several items in your own home you can use as accessories for your wedding invites. The key here is for you to be extra creative in order for you to come up with unique invites without having to spend too much on the materials.

##Select a Venue that’s Near to All##

Choosing the venue is another aspect where you need to think local. Additionally, if you can have both the ceremony and the reception set on the same venue, the better. This way, your guests won’t have to drive from one venue to another. Aside from being convenient, it will also help them save gas and contribute to helping the environment at the same time.

##Take Advantage of What Nature Can Offer##

It’s very possible to have nature as your partner during your big day. One way is by choosing a venue where there is natural lighting. The beach, for instance, should be a great venue for an Eco friendly wedding, and so does a garden. Since there is natural lighting and ventilation on such venues, you can save greatly on electricity for lighting and air-conditioning.

Who says you cannot celebrate a grand wedding on a budget? With these practical Eco-friendly tips, you will be able to show not just your love for one another, but your love and concern for the environment as well!
